NOT WHAT YOU EXPECTED...
When you asked your kiddo what they wanted to be and they proudly proclaimed that they wanted to be a doctor, you likely had several thoughts and images come to mind. You were probably proud of them, first. Becoming a real doctor is a pretty daunting choice! Then, you might have imagined a nice, white doctor's lab coat and, of course, the stethoscope around their neck. Maybe a surgeon wearing a blue mask for the operating room!
But, when they began talking about a totally different kind of doctor's mask that was more common in the 16th and 17th centuries, you probably began to wonder! What was all this talk of oiled coats and spices shoved down into the raven beak? Black Death!? Well, fortunately, the times of the plague doctor are well over, but that doesn't mean that the fun of their mysterious appearance hasn't faded with time. We've got some great looks that will perfectly treat those ambitions!
DESIGN & DETAILS
We love the strange history we share and our design team loves making costumes inspired by strange times even more. That's why we're happy to offer this Made by Us look. Our Plague Doctor costume features an ankle-length robe as well as a shiny, vinyl smock collar, hood, wide-brimmed hat, and a pair of gloves. Of course, the real plague doctor look comes from the belt with a snap pouch and elastic pouches for bottles as well as the iconic white raven mask that features red mesh-covered eye openings.
STEP TOWARDS MEDICAL SCHOOL
Perhaps the plague doctors of the middle ages weren't the best of medical practitioners, but we can't deny that they looked awesome. And, who knows, when your kiddo enjoys their time with this plague doctor look, they might even want to head into modern medicine, too!

Height 56.4" | Weight 79 lbs | Size LargeI read the reviews on this costume before purchasing and I am glad that I did. I ordered one size up as suggested and it was the right choice to make. The black long-sleeved gown runs small. My almost 12-year-old is able to wear the size Large (14) that I purchased fairly comfortably, though the sleeves are a little difficult for him to get his arms into because the rest of the gown doesn't have any wiggle room. The material seems sturdy and the costume looks really good on him. The gloves are a bit problematic because they are long and it's hard for him to get his fingers all the way down into the finger holes but it's more of an annoyance and the gloves could be easily replaced with other types of gloves if necessary. He is able to make it work well enough for our purposes. The major issue that I have with the costume is the white beak mask. It arrived folded up and so I've had to put some balled up paper inside it to try to fix its shape. It is also a little big on my son's face. The biggest problem, thought, is that it arrived in a fairly dirty condition. The outside of the mask was mostly okay but inside, the fabric appears dirty. I don't know if this was a mask that had been used, returned, and repackaged for sale or if it got dirty in storage. I can attempt to clean it and I'm sure it will be fine, but it is a little gross to look at.Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.Was this review helpful to you?

My son is 9 yrs old. We measured him as per chart and the costume fit him a little snugged. And he's little. But the costume is great. He just wont be rewearing it later as too I'm sure it wont fit. All in all excellent costume!Was this review helpful to you?

The mask was disgusting! We had the same issue as another reviewer who posted pictures. The inside of the mask is foam and it yellowed/browned and it felt/looked like it was 30 year old. there was no way I was letting my kid put that on his face. Costume looks really cool, but there were a few issues, starting with the size. I bought a size up and the costume was still way too small. Son is 11 got the xl, arms on costume were really tight. The moment we put it on it ripped a big hole on the side under the right arm. Purchased a size XL for a child who wears size 14/16. The measurements seemed fine and we went with it. Received costume and it was shorter than anticipated and fit, a little snug but it fit. With a 20% restocking fee for returns and not wanting to pay for shipping yet again we made it work. Excellent quality for the most part. My son ripped the back of the cloak taking it off, but that was his fault. The mask is well made and of good quality. It will last a long time. Size MediumThis is a great costume - lots of pieces that give detail and complexity, many of which can be re-purposed for other costumes later. My nine year old grandson loves it and so do his friends - everyone wants to try it on! While the pieces are generally sturdy and well made, the main piece is cut narrow and small for a nine year old. Size MediumNice enough costume. But too small. We will make it work as time is short, but are disappointed.
We measured him and based on the chart ordered the medium for our 11 year old. (He typically wears a 12 very comfortably and 14 is usually too big for him.

Size MediumThe costume is a very good quality. It runs small. The back tore the first time my son put it on. He's a size 8-10 and I bought the medium which says it's a 10-12. The top 6 inches tore but another part of the costume covers that. this costume is ok, my son loved it! but we ran into one major problem after Halloween. the tunic got shredded under the arm! I was shocked when my son told me this, so I realized that the costume must have not fit very snug, and my son told me that it would get really hot under the tunic, and it was not the most comfortable.

Size MediumI got it last Friday and have been wearing it and seeing how it feels on me and its great. The materials are not cheap, they are high quality and worth the money. Its also realistic and looks awesome and I was able to scare my dogs.
