How It All Began
Before Red Riding hood became famous for heading off to grandma's house with a wicker basket filled to the brim with pastries, she was known by the name Little Dolores Riding Hood. It doesn't have the same ring to it, does it? Would a storybook entitled Little Dolores Riding Hood have become as popular as the story we all know and love today? Probably not. If you ever wondered how the little-caped traveler got dubbed 'Little Red' then we will gladly fill you in on all the juicy details. (You're welcome.)
Years before Red embarked on her adventure to visit grandma, her mother took her shopping so she could establish her fashion sense at a young age. As she was walking through the aisles festooned with bright colored clothing, she spotted a crimson-colored kerchief that would one day shape her destiny. As soon as she tried it on, she knew that she never wanted to take off the red hood. I've done it. I've found my personal style, whispered Dolores. Her mother purchased every size of the red hood they had in stock so her daughter didn't have to spend one day without her favorite article of clothing. That's the day Dolores vanished and instead the world was blessed with Little Red Riding Hood, arguably the best storybook character of all time. (Sorry, not sorry Dorothy.)
Design & Details
Now we don't recommend buying out our entire stock of this costume for your child like Red's mother. (Although we wouldn't be complaining!) The lesson of this story is that your little girl will look and feel fantastic in this deluxe child Little Red Riding Hood costume. It just may be the costume that she wants to wear every Halloween. The beautiful red dress is styled as a vest, skirt, and apron over a white peasant-style blouse. The black velvet vest has a back zipper and ribbon lacing at the front. The costume also comes with a knee-length hooded cape that fastens with a Hook and Loop fastener tab at the neck.
How To Make It Your Own
Adding accessories like a wicker basket, white ankle socks, and black ballet flats will personalize the classic Riding Hood costume for girls. Mom, you can always upgrade this look by dressing in a big bad wolf costume to create an adorable mother/daughter costume. It'll be fitting since your little one looks cute enough to eat!

Received this in the time promised. This costume is very good quality unlike many other costumes purchased at costume stores. The description of the sizes was absolutely perfect and I would have not ordered a size up if it was not for that description. I searched for days and days for a Little Red Riding Hood costume. Found many cute ones but I could not trust the size description and many had poor reviews regarding the quality. Also many had short capes and I prefer this one because it is longer. This is a well made costume. I bought it for my 9-year old for Halloween 2014. Through the years I've purchased many costumes and made many of my own. Generally, the purchased ones have been flimsy material, sewn improperly, and too small for the size ordered. Not this one. It's thick material, sewn beautifully, and the size chart was right on the money. My daughter got many compliments tonight when she went trick-or-treating. She'll use it for dress-up now. I bought this costume for my 18 month old and I thought it would be super cute and good quality especially with the previous review. I got it and opened the package and the costume was very unfinished. There were loose strings and threads all over it. I had to fix the whole costume before my daughter could even use it and because of that it was a disappointment. I wish it would have came ready to wear so that I didn't have to put my time into something that was supposed to be finished.Was this review helpful to you?
