Unleash your inner costume designer with our playful tutorials, turning everyday materials into show-stopping outfits!

If you are anything like the crew at HalloweenCostumes.com, there’s around an eight-hour gap missing from your life in the middle of last July. What happened in those hours? Well, friends, Stranger Things happened. On July 15th, 2016, Netflix launched the entire first season of their original show, an 80s-influenced sci-fi series that featured a group of D&D-playing middle schoolers, an alcoholic police chief, a psychokinetic little girl named after a number, and an internet fan-favorite named Barb. There’s so much to love about Stranger Things – the music, the characters, the nods and homages to all of our favorite creepy movies growing up, Steve… – so, it’s no wonder that this show is one of the biggest costume trends of the year. We obviously wanted to play along, but we knew we had to do something a little outside the box to compete with the other super creative cosplays out there. So we decided to start from the beginning…

In January 2016, the world lost David Bowie, one of the most loved, creative, and inspiring individuals of all time. To call him just a musician would leave out all his memorable fashion looks. To call him just a rock star wouldn’t do justice to his acting career. From Labyrinth to Zoolander, from Hunky Dory to Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie's outfits, as well as David Bowie himself, left an impression wherever he went and whatever he did. To pay homage to his many iconic looks, we've picked one of our favorites to turn into a DIY Halloween costume. We went with his blue suit and orange hair combo in the "Life on Mars?" video. See below for all the details!

October 2016 may be dubbed Harleyween, but that doesn’t make us want to dress as her any less this year! It’s no wonder she’s so popular among cosplayers and costume fans – Margot Robbie’s portrayal of the supervillain was the best part of Suicide Squad this August, and the character has been a fan favorite since her first appearance in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. However, while we think there is nothing wrong with being another Harley at your Halloween party (the more the merrier, puddin’!), we do suggest putting your own twist on it. That’s why for this year, we’ve created an alternate Suicide Squad costume featuring her look from inside the prison: orange jumpsuit, romance novel, and tea cup all included. See below for our full DIY tutorial!

On Sunday night, October 9th, 2016, the United States officially entered the Bone Zone. Yes, that’s right – something momentous happened at the second presidential debate on CNN that truly united the nation as one. No, it wasn’t a statement by Hillary or a cutting quip by Trump. Last night was the night we learned of…...

After debuting in early 2015 off-Broadway and transferring to Broadway in August 2015, the hit musical won 11 Tony Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, a Grammy Award, and received an invitation to the White House to perform for President Obama in 2016. It has continued to dazzle audiences on Broadway in Chicago, London, and San Francisco, even going as far as stages for international audiences! We hope these extra productions will bring the ticket price down from the over $1,000 it had been fetching. In the meantime, though, here are some costume guides to help you bring the musical to your hometown for Halloween. Creating Hamilton Halloween costumes will require a bit of ingenuity. Our DIY costume guide draws from a number of other seemingly unrelated offerings, combining Halloween costumes you’ll never think could go together. The end result will be something truly unique. Now do Lin-Manuel Miranda proud and start crafting your Hamilton cosplay! There are a million Broadway costumes we haven't made, but just you wait...
