Rave and EDM Party Costume Ideas

The warm weather is just around the corner, which means it’s about time for music festivals and/or music-festival-themed parties! There's nothing worse than attending an event for the first time and having zero idea of what the dress code is. You don’t want to underdress and look like three-week-old trash amongst everyone, but at the same time, you don’t want that awkward feeling of overdressing. You've Googled what shoes to wear to music festivals, EDM concert outfit ideas, what shoes to wear to a rave, and other fitting questions, but here's the deal... EDM festivals don’t have a dress code, much less an EDM-themed party. If you want to wear neon-colored tights, do it! If you want to wear fuzzy warm leggers (warning, you will sweat A LOT), do it! If you want to put glitter all over your body and shine bright like a diamond, do it! We’ve put together some rave and EDM party costume ideas featuring bright and colorful accessories, along with some wild and outrageous costumes. Read on to find your perfect outfit/costume for your upcoming soirée.

Accessories for a Rave
EDM Rave Concert Accessories

Back to the Future Hat     Pink Shutter Shades      Green Gumball Bracelet     80s Bracelets

Alright, before we get into the wild costumes, we're going to kick-off this guide with some more low-key looks. If you're not comfortable with wearing outrageous things, put on some everyday clothes and add some of these accessories to give you that rave/EDM look! When it comes to EDM clothing for guys, tanks are a popular choice. With all of the dancing and calories you'll be burning, they're the perfect "shirts" for making sure you don't overheat. Pair a tank with a hat and some shades and you're ready to go. When it comes to rave women's clothing, the same rule applies. Tanks are popular, along with bandeaus. Add some neon bling to the mix and get your dance on. A tip for everyone: wearing jeans to a rave is a bad idea. Would you go running in jeans? Only if you're insane and love the feeling of sweaty chafing. The same rule applies to EDM festivals and raves. Be smart, let your legs breathe!

Makeup

Eyelashes    Glitter Hairspray     Gold Glitter Makeup        Silver Metallic Makeup

If you search the internet for EDM festival makeup, you'll be sure to find tons of makeup tutorials. If you're looking for an affordable shiny makeup to use as your base, you've come to the right place. If you aren't planning on going to a ton of festivals or parties, chances are you aren't going to need a lot of it, so there's no point in going to a makeup store to pay five times as much. Glitter isn't the only accessory you can use to spice up your look. Fake lashes and glitter hairspray come in handy as well. If you plan on recreating one of the makeup tutorials you come across, pick out some colored, fake lashes that will compliment your look. Not only will they make your eyes pop, but they'll also make the look complete. And since you've already decided to go all out with the makeup, why not add glitter to your hair as well? It's almost like craft time during Kindergarten all over again, though hopefully you're not sticking the glitter in your mouth this time.

EDM Costumes for Women

Unicorn Costume     Polka Dotty Monster Costume      Groovy Go Go Girl Costume      Gold Dress      Orange Soda Girl Costume

Some EDM clothing stores don't have the fun and outrageous costumes that we do. For instance, do you want to dress up as a sparkly unicorn? If your answer is yes (which it should be) we've got a costume for that! Want to look like a genderbent EDM version of Sulley from Monsters, Inc. (we know you do)? We've got a costume for that! If those looks are too wild for you, don't worry because we carry a few toned-down looks that will stun everyone at the party. If you decide to go with one of these, your skin will actually be able to breathe, so that's always nice.

Shark Costumes        Sweat It Out Outfit        Stick Man Costume       Unicorn Costume       Unicorn Mask

So dudes, if you're still wondering what to wear to raves and EDM festivals, don't sweat it! We're going to start out with some outrageous looks and then get into some more casual looks in the next paragraph. Who could forget the shark at the Superbowl that taught us to dance to the beat of our own drum? Are you shy, but love blasting music and dancing around your house when you're home alone? This costume is perfect for you! Sure, EDM hoodies are cool, but what's cooler than wearing an outfit that literally says, "Sweat It Out". Be a hero by reminding people to keep moving and get their blood pumping! Otherwise, you can be a stick man or a unicorn. Or if you really want to play it simple, wear a normal outfit and just throw this unicorn mask on top. It takes the least amount of effort, but will get you just as much attention.

Men's Opposuits

Men's Opposuits

Iceman Opposuit       Tulips From Amsterdam Opposuit      Tropicool Summer Opposuit       Testival Summer Suit

If you don't like any of the options above and still find yourself shamefully searching, "what to wear to an EDM concert", then you should try out an Opposuit. Sure, they look quite ridiculous, but they will totally fit the vibe you're going for. They're a bit pricier than some other options, but if you plan on going to multiple festivals or summer parties, you'll get your money's worth out of it. Not only will you look dapper, but they're also great if you and your friends are prone to losing each other in crowds (which is a common occurrence at music festivals).

So are you ready to get your rave on? We're hoping by now, you'll feel comfortable walking into your next party or festival not feeling under/overdressed. Are you going to go all-out crazy with one of the costumes? Or play it more low-key with the night-out wear? Or maybe just add some accessories to your everyday casual clothes? Upload your outfits on IG and tag us (@FunCostumes) so we can see which route you took! We can't wait to see! Lastly, don't forget to drink a LOT of water, especially since we know you'll be sweating a ton shakin' those calories off.
