Orange Tuesday is the New Black Friday

As we approach the Halloween season, people begin sharing their #CodeOrange finds and pumpkin-spiced everything recipes. However, did you know about Orange Tuesday? This modern tradition for the Halloween season designates the Tuesday after Labor Day as Orange Tuesday. You can expect Halloween sales and decorations to make their way outside. Are you prepared for Orange Tuesday this year?

What is Orange Tuesday?

Orange Tuesday is the first day of Halloween season. It falls on the day after Labor Day, when many Halloween retailers run early Halloween sales. Orange Tuesday is a great time to start planning your Halloween costumes and festivities, and to dust off your Halloween decorations.

What to Expect on Orange Tuesday

Orange Tuesday Sale

As we mentioned before, Orange Tuesday is a sale holiday where Halloween retailers often have discounts on seasonal goodies. (It's like Black Friday for Halloween!) There's some incentive to get Halloween products early, especially decorations and trendy costumes, before products start selling out in October. Many people start putting out their fall and Halloween decorations beginning in September, making Orange Tuesday a great day to decorate!

Orange Tuesday Party Ideas

Orange Tuesday may be considered a shopping holiday, but some of us like to get into the spooky spirit. Get those Halloween decorations dusted off and add any new friends you picked up, find fun Halloween recipes, and dress up if you wish! There's no wrong way to spend your Orange Tuesday. We'll share some of our favorite Orange Tuesday party ideas below to help you make the most of the day!

Wear Orange for the Day

Woman in Orange Clothing

As a subtle nod that you're celebrating Orange Tuesday, make orange the color of the day by crafting an orange outfit! Cozy fall colors make us excited for the change of season. You don't have to go full hunter orange by any means—pick burnt oranges or a lighter tangerine or apricot, or mix and match a few shades if you have them. Also, it's a great day to pick up a celebratory PSL!

Wear a Witch Hat

Have you seen those people wearing Santa hats while doing their Black Friday shopping? We can do something like that for Halloween too! Witch hats are iconic Halloween headgear, so pop one on before heading out for Halloween shopping with your friends or family. You may feel silly, but it's all in good fun!

Eat Orange Foods

Orange Foods

It's Orange Tuesday, so why not celebrate with a few of your favorite orange foods? Oranges, carrots, mangoes, orange creamsicles—you name it! You don't have to make all your food for the day orange, but have a snack or dessert if you want to treat yourself to a little Orange Tuesday fun.

Make Your Favorite Halloween Foods

Mummy Pigs in a Blanket

If you want to go a step further than eating orange things, may we suggest making some of your favorite Halloween recipes? Mummy pigs in a blanket are too good to save for once a year! You can also take the opportunity to try new recipes that you want to serve for Halloween. Do you even need excuses to have fun with your food? (We think not!)

Put up Halloween Decorations

Halloween Table Decorations

Orange Tuesday is the day that some people also start putting out their Halloween decorations, so why not join in the fun? It doesn't have to be everything all at once, but arranging a Halloween table or putting out your Halloween pillows brings those fall vibes. If you're buying decorations for Halloween on Orange Tuesday, you might as well let them stay out and about!

Break out the Fall and Halloween Movies and TV Shows

Fall Movie Night

What do you watch to set the fall mood? TV series like Over the Garden Wall and Gravity Falls are common fall favorites with their outdoor settings and critter encounters. Then you have movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, Monster House, and other Halloween-themed films for the family. (Although you can start your Halloween horror movie marathon if you want!) What do you like to watch to make it feel like fall?

Tune Into Your Favorite Halloween Music
