It's hard to have a costume party without the costumes. There are plenty of classics from the first Beetlejuice movie, and we have even more options with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Dress as characters like Lydia, Astrid, Beetlejuice, the Maitlands, or any other fun background characters you meet throughout the franchise.

2. Beetlejuice Decorations

Black and Red Party Decorations

There are several directions you can take your Beetlejuice party decorations. Black and white striped decorations are a good choice, and don't forget about adding pops of Beetlejuice green! Or, if you want a more Lydia-themed party, pick Gothic-looking decorations with plenty of black. We love the idea of adding red to match her iconic red wedding dress.

3. Beetlejuice Food

Beetlejuice Food

A good party host makes sure their guests are fed and happy! But what sorts of foods would you serve at a Beetlejuice watch party? Green snacks and desserts with graveyard themes fit well with Beetlejuice in general, or you could take a look at the food eaten in the movie. From their Chinese takeout dinner to Zagnut candy bars and shrimp cocktails, there are plenty of other ways to spin your snack table.

4. Beetlejuice Recipe Ideas

Shrimp Cocktail

If we're taking cues from the movie, a shrimp cocktail with a red sauce is a must! Here's a simple recipe to get you started.

Beetlejuice Shrimp Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • Shrimp (fresh or thawed)
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • Cocktail Sauce (store-bought or homemade is fine)

Directions:

  • Add water and a pinch of salt to pot or saucepan.
  • Bring water to a boil and add shrimp.
  • Cover and boil for 4-5 minutes until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  • Prepare an ice bath for your shrimp by placing 2 cups of ice in a large bowl and filling it halfway with water.
  • Drain the cooked shrimp and add them to the ice bath for a few minutes.
  • Once cooled, drain the shrimp and peel them, but leave the tails attached.
  • Divide your cocktail sauce into glasses or bowls, and hang the shrimp around the rim.
  • Serve immediately.

Graveyards, ghosts, and bio-exorcists abound in Beetlejuice, so a batch of graveyard-themed cupcakes is the perfect treat.

Beetlejuice Graveyard Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 Box chocolate cupcake mix
  • 1 Container of green icing (optional: get vanilla icing and add green food coloring)
  • 12 Tombstone cupcake toppers (either purchased or printed and cut out)

Directions:

  • Bake cupcake mix according to directions.
  • Allow cupcakes to cool.
  • Add green icing. If you're feeling fancy, make it look like grass.
  • Use toothpicks to place tombstone toppers on your graveyard cupcakes.

5. Beetlejuice Drinks

Beetlejuice Drinks

The drinks you serve depend on your guests, but we expect to see some green drinks. Whether you and your crowd prefer cocktails, mocktails, smoothies, or juice, try to find drinks and recipes in the colors of Beetlejuice! Black and white feature heavily, as does the color green. We also love the idea of turning your drink table into a graveyard, which is highly fitting for a Beetlejuice watch party.

6. Beetlejuice Activities

Movie Night

Who are we kidding? If you're hosting a Beetlejuice watch party, you're watching some Beetlejuice movies. But what else is there to do? You can play the Beetlejuice movie soundtrack while eating and perhaps break into a little dance party when "Banana Boat" comes on. Or, take the time to channel your inner Delia and have a modern art paint-and-sip session. Get creative, and have fun!

We hope you're ready to have the best time by hosting a Beetlejuice party! What are your must-haves? What other party theme would you love to see? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. Go ahead, make our millennium!
