Pokémon GO hit the US Android and Apple app stores last week and, well, if you’ve seen an influx of people walking the sidewalks with their phones in front of them, that’s why. This new AR game turns regular smart phone users into real life Pokémon trainers – you can walk down the street by your house and catch a cute Pidgey hanging out by the mailbox or you can go to the local park in your neighborhood and defend your territory at the gym, battling your Pokémon against others in the area. Video games have been telling stories since the days of Pong. Sure, a friendly game of table tennis on a Sunday afternoon may not be the next Citizen Kane, but the game still strives to show us an epic competition between two paddles! Other games take us on epic odysseys to a faraway land filled with princesses, dinosaurs, and tiny mushroom people, a la Super Mario Bros., and others, like the stories in Resident Evil, show us our own world, but with more zombies. With the treasure trove of tales to tell, it's not surprising that many games have taken the step into the silver screen. Some entered the movie scene like champs, while others crashed and burned in a glorious blaze of blue Hadouken flames. Since Blizzard has decided to take a stab at it with Warcraft, coming out on June 10th, we got inspired to put together this list of all the internationally released movies based on video games, which shows you which video game movies brought in the most coins and which ones tanked at the box office.

You may know them from the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, or even the new Battlefront video game. So without further a-dewback - yes, that happened - let’s travel from the Core World of Coruscant through the most iconic Mid Rim and Outer Rim planets!

Metal Gear Solid is a wildly popular and critically acclaimed franchise of video games, a continuation (as sequels and prequels) of the earlier generation of Metal Gear games. But if you’re reading this, you probably knew that already. Solid Snake is the main protagonist of the series in general, though his commanding officer–and later antagonist, among other things–Big Boss has served as the protagonist since Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. While Big Boss is the focus of this do-it-yourself costume tutorial, we’re also including tips on dressing as Solid Snake because he appears eerily similar. It’s almost like Solid Snake is a clone…almost exactly like he’s a clone. (Okay, he’s a clone.)

When Disney acquired Lucasfilm, and in effect, the entirety of the Star Wars universe, it quickly went about consolidating the enormous number of canon and non-canon stories. What was known as the Extended Universe (EU), featuring books, comics, and other media based on the Star Wars universe, was re-categorized as “Legends." The official Star Wars canon was narrowed down to the six official films, the Clone Wars and Rebels cartoons, and some new illustrated and written media. Of all the EU media delegated to Legends status, none was more loved and admired by the fandom than the stories surrounding the famous starfighter squadron led by Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles.
