Alien Makeup Tutorial with Torn Face Effects

Anyone who has seen Ridley Scott's 1979 classic Alien is well aware of the famous Chestbuster scene in which an alien life form literally explodes through the chest of officer Kane. The scene is one of the more shocking scenes in the film franchise, not to mention one of the most memorable in the sci-fi genre. While the alien in the scene has such an iconic look to it, it may not be the easiest thing to do in regards to a Halloween costume. The Chestbuster alien costume would require the use of a prop, a feature some people may not want to commit to for a Halloween costume. Besides, if you're going to dress up as a creature from the Alien franchise, you're most likely to wear some form of Xenomorph costume. Since those can also be bulky, we've tried out some different makeup effects to get a more practical form of the perfect organism.

How do you create a place that doesn’t exist? That was the challenge by George Lucas, JJ Abrams, and company in filming the Star Wars saga. Several filming locations were filmed and set pieces were built to create the atmosphere of planets in a far away galaxy. The deserts of Tatooine can be found in both Tunisia and the US, the ice planet of Hoth was actually a glacier in Norway, and even the resistance air base on D’Qar is a real air force base found in the UK. Star Wars filming locations can found all over the map, and most can even be visited.

When Star Wars: The Force Awakens was first announced and images of a black Stormtrooper hit the internet, there was some grumbling about how the Empire would never allow for that. “All Stormtroopers are clones of Jango Fett!” they said. “The Empire was racist, they would not allow diversity in the Academy!” they said. Many of these early complaints were based on the misnomer that all Stormtroopers since The Clone Wars were actual clones. The truth is that the clone army was phased out after the era of Revenge of the Sith.
