Colorful Costume Ideas

Have you ever thought about what costume you'd pick if you had to go by color? Maybe you're taking part in a rainbow run, a Pride event, or your child has Color Day at school. It's also a fun group costume idea! Rather than having everyone pick a different color crayon costume for the most obvious choice, we're going to share additional Halloween costume ideas for the entire rainbow.

Pink Costume Ideas

"On Wednesdays, we wear pink." The Plastics had strict rules for when they wore one of their favorite colors, but why stick to just one day? So many wonderful things are pink, from pastel pink to dark magenta! It reminds us of candy and cute critters, including some of the most adorable video game characters. Sometimes we even make costumes pink that aren't normally that color because we just love pastels that much! If you want to feel pretty in pink, you might want to consider one of these pink Halloween costumes.

Red Costume Ideas

If you think about it, red is one very emotional color. It brings to mind both love and hate, courage and passion. It's certainly not lazy, either. Red reminds us of racecar drivers and sports uniforms, as well as a great number of superhero costumes! After all that get up and go, we need to recharge with some of our favorite red foods.

Orange Costume Ideas

Is there another color more Halloween than orange? While we didn't reach for the most obvious costume, an orange costume, there's still plenty of the color to go around! Orange reminds us of fall and the crisp leaves, along with some of our favorite gourds and pumpkins. It's also bright, eye-catching, and unapologetic. Be bold, and pick a fun orange Halloween costume this year!

Yellow Costume Ideas

If you want to be the center of attention, why not grab a bright yellow costume? It definitely screams "Look at me!" (Or also "caution!" There's a reason safety vests and HAZMAT suits are yellow, after all.) Still, yellow reminds us of pleasant things too. We love cute yellow duckies, neon yellow highlighters, and the adorable Pokémon mascot. We also enjoy splashing in the rain in our yellow raincoats—unless you're Dennis Nedry or Georgie.

Green Costume Ideas

Kermit the Frog may have sung "It's Not Easy Being Green", but we'd love to argue that it is! There are so many green costumes connected to nature, from plants and leafy greens to frogs, lizards, and dinosaurs. We also have green superheroes and villains, several of which even have "green" in their name. There's Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Green Goblin, Green Hornet, and Green Ghost to name a few. With so many great green Halloween costume ideas, people will be turning green with envy when they see you!

Blue Costume Ideas

Did you know that blue is the rarest color in nature—at least when it comes to living things? True blue isn't featured among many plants and animals, but you can find some blue sea creatures or bird costumes if you have your heart set on blue animals. On the other hand, blue is such a cool color that you can find plenty of character costumes wearing it. You have the lighter blues for Dorothy and Alice costumes, and dark navy blue for Michael Myers.

Purple Costume Ideas

Similar to blue, purple is fairly rare to spot in nature, so we have tons of fun purple character costume ideas! Disney characters like Rapunzel and the Evil Queen are well-known for their purple dresses, and who could forget Daphne's iconic outfit in Scooby-Doo? We love purple Pokémon like Gengar and Mewtwo, and while hammerhead sharks aren't purple, this kigurumi is adorable.

Black Costume Ideas

We threw all the colorful costumes at you. Now it's time for some shade! Black is one of the most popular and versatile neutral colors, and we love costume ideas for black suits and little black dresses. It's gothic and vampy but can also be downright scary—or ridiculously cool. Witches and black cats rule this realm, but don't let that stop you from thinking outside the box! Go extra spooky as a cryptid creature or a vengeful ghost, or reach for a pop culture favorite with a Cobra Kai uniform. There are even superheroes like Black Panther, Batman, and Black Widow that make black costumes ridiculously awesome.

White Costume Ideas

We're not going to enter the "is it a color" debate for white either, because there are so many white costumes that you can wear! Angels and togas come to mind almost immediately, along with white animal costumes such as bunnies and polar bears. However, don't let any celebrity classics escape you! Marilyn Monroe's halter dress is a must, and you can feel the boogie fever in a Saturday Night Fever disco jumpsuit. You can even use a white suit as a base for a number of other Halloween costume ideas. The possibilities are endless!

Gray Costume Ideas

Gray can feel like such a dull color sometimes, from foggy days to industrial concrete structures. But we think these gray Halloween costumes are exciting! There are so many cute and cuddly animals that this is a great color for kids' Halloween costumes. We also love movie costumes like Dr. Evil and Gandalf the Grey. What may seem like a boring color idea at first has a lot more versatility than you may think!

Brown Costume Ideas

Brown Costumes

Plus-Size Hagrid CostumeToddler TarantulaKids' Teddy Bear CostumeAdult Deer Onesie

Brown, like gray, contains quite a few furry members of the animal kingdom. We love brown bears, deer, horses, and more, so these costumes are great choices for the color brown! Brown is also a common color for coats, pants, and other articles of clothing, so we're sure that you can find quite a few characters here too! Hagrid's long brown coat in Harry Potter is iconic, and let's not forget about Friar Tuck. There's so much more to brown costumes than the poop emoji costume, but we guess you can wear that if you'd like to, too.

We hope your ideas are just a little more colorful now! Are you excited for your next costume event? Do you need costume ideas for a different theme? Feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comments. We're always looking for great costume suggestions!
