It's beginning to look a lot like...Halloween? Have you ever spotted a Halloween wreath on your neighbor's door or a Halloween tree glistening at night? After The Nightmare Before Christmas brought the two holidays together in an entertaining way, maybe Halloween trees and wreaths aren't that unusual after all! We'll share how we pulled together a few of our own. Follow along as we DIY Halloween wreaths and trees perfect for decorating your home.
In most of our videos, we used a black tree and wreath and one white tree, but feel free to experiment with other Halloween-colored trees and wreaths, including purple, orange, and Halloween green. We also used a lot of Halloween decorations to accessorize our trees because they work so well!
Witch Tree
Witches are a trendy Halloween decorating theme, so come and make a witch Halloween tree with us! With witchy touches like small witch brooms, striped witch socks as a garland, and even miniature witch mask ornaments, our witch tree looks appropriately hexed. Top it off with a witch hat as a tree topper, and you will have a fantastic Halloween tree!
Witch Wreath
Many elements in our Halloween tree also make incredible Halloween wreath decorations. We wrapped striped witch socks around the wreath to create a fun base, and we pulled the broom ends off the small brooms and added them to the wreath. With a matching purple bow and a few other witchy elements, our witch wreath is ready to greet trick-or-treaters!
Skeleton Tree
How many bones can you reasonably put in a Halloween tree? If your tree is skeleton-themed, we'd argue you can add quite a few! Get plenty of skulls, bags of bones, creepy garlands, and more for a graveyard skeleton-themed tree. We even had a set of tombstone lights to tie it all together.
Skeleton Wreath
No bones about it—this is a classic Halloween wreath design! We created a focal point with skeleton hands, a Halloween ribbon, and a skull, and tied it together with smaller skulls around the border. We used the webbed garland that held the small skulls as another point of interest to cover our wreath in an appropriately spooky texture.
Spider Tree
Spiders are fun to decorate with for Halloween and are often the most accessible Halloween decorations to put on a tree. Because our Halloween tree is black, we wrapped it in white webbing sheets to give some contrast between the tree and our black spiders. We also added spider egg sacks for more variety. Because many tree toppers light up, we found a giant spider with light-up eyes to crown the top of our tree.
Spider Wreath
Like our spider tree, we covered the spider wreath in cobwebs to help make the spiders more visible. A giant spider perched on the wreath gave it an appropriately creepy feel, although we softened it with a bow that matched the spider's eyes. (Every wreath needs a bow, right?) We also used fake bone pieces embedded in the webbed wreath for an eerie touch.
Horror Tree
Do you like scary movies? Add elements of your favorite horror movie icons to your Halloween tree! We used a variety of horror movie masks, slasher weapons, vampire teeth, and even a few ornament busts of our favorite horror characters. Of course, no horror tree is complete without a scary mask tree topper.
Horror Wreath
Rather than leave the hole inside this wreath empty, we decided to fill the space with a Jason mask! We tightened up our horror wreath theme here by making it more Jason-themed than a barrel full of slashers, but do what you like best! While Jason's iconic weapon is the machete, they proved too big for our purposes. Instead, we used crossed knives, which he still uses in the Friday the 13th franchise. To keep our wreath from looking plain, we wrapped it in spider webs, popped on mini pumpkins, and added a pair of bows.
Clown Tree
It only felt appropriate to make a scary clown tree white. Clowns are very brightly colored and often have an eclectic mix of accessories, so we made the most of our clown accessories when dressing our clown-themed Halloween tree. Flashing red clown noses made a hilarious addition to the lights on our tree, and mini bowler hats and wigs perched on the branches. So many clown goodies are hiding in this tree that it almost feels like a clown car!
