DIY David Bowie Halloween Costume - Life on Mars? Edition

by |October 16, 2016

David Bowie Life on Mars DIY

In January 2016, the world lost David Bowie, one of the most loved, creative, and inspiring individuals of all time. To call him just a musician would leave out all his memorable fashion looks. To call him just a rock star wouldn’t do justice to his acting career. From Labyrinth to Zoolander, from Hunky Dory to Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie's outfits, as well as David Bowie himself, left an impression wherever he went and whatever he did. To pay homage to his many iconic looks, we've picked one of our favorites to turn into a DIY Halloween costume. We went with his blue suit and orange hair combo in the "Life on Mars?" video. See below for all the details!

DIY Harley Quinn Makeup & Hair Tutorial – Suicide Squad Prison Jumpsuit

DIY Harley Quinn Jumpsuit Look

October 2016 may be dubbed Harleyween, but that doesn’t make us want to dress as her any less this year! It’s no wonder she’s so popular among cosplayers and costume fans – Margot Robbie’s portrayal of the supervillain was the best part of Suicide Squad this August, and the character has been a fan favorite since her first appearance in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. However, while we think there is nothing wrong with being another Harley at your Halloween party (the more the merrier, puddin’!), we do suggest putting your own twist on it. That’s why for this year, we’ve created an alternate Suicide Squad costume featuring her look from inside the prison: orange jumpsuit, romance novel, and tea cup all included. See below for our full DIY tutorial!

Man of Your Dreams: The Evolution of Freddy Krueger [Infographic]

Freddy Krueger Infographic

Take a moment to relax. Find a nice, quiet room, and lay down in the dark. Close your eyes. Feel yourself drifting off to sleep… Suddenly, you see a figure off in the distance. The vision is hazy at first, but then he slowly rises into focus. You can see a ragged striped sweater on a tall lurching body. An old brown hat with a wide brim. A sharp ray of light flickers: he has blades coming from his sleeve, like every finger is a knife. Burnt, disfigured skin glistens in the moonlight. Finally, the man of your dreams fully appears in front of you: it’s Freddy Krueger. One of the most infamous movie villains of all time came into the pop culture lexicon in 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street and throughout the 9-film franchise, Krueger’s look changed bit-by-bit, burn-by-burn, and other such b-words that Freddy is well-known for spouting. We’ve created this infographic showing the changes, as well as Krueger’s kill count per film and interesting facts about each movie. See for yourself, but whatever you do… don’t fall asleep.

History of Halloween in North America Infographic

While we all know that the origins of Halloween didn't quite include Grease costumes or Fun Size Snickers, the other facts and tidbits about the best holiday's history may not be so clear. Where did "trick or treat" really originate and what was the first reference to this tradition in pop culture? Did people really put razors in candy or was that just a hoax? (And did you know that some people threw flour on unsuspecting passersby on All Hallow's Eve?!) To explain just when Halloween appeared in North America and how it evolved into the holiday we know and celebrate today, we created this infographic. We hope you enjoy... if you dare!

Yes, that’s right – something momentous happened at the second presidential debate on CNN that truly united the nation as one. No, it wasn’t a statement by Hillary or a cutting quip by Trump. Last night was the night we learned of…...
